The interview

Reem Koubeh, Syria

What is your name, and where do you come from?

My name is Reem Koubeh, and I am coming from Syria

What is your profession?

I am a physiotherapist, Master’s degree in Bioinformatics.

How is the rehabilitation treatment of spine diseases managed in your country?

The diagnosis is established by a qualified physician, after which they devise an appropriate treatment plan tailored to the specific diagnosis and patient needs.

Scoliosis: how is it treated?

Following a scoliosis diagnosis, physicians recommend treatment options based on several factors, including the severity of the curve, the patient's age, and individual needs. These options can encompass both surgical and conservative methods, like physiotherapy and bracing.

What aspects of actual clinical practice would you like to see improved in your country?

Yes! I have found it to be a great learning opportunity!

What do you believe you can learn from this course, and how can you use the new concepts in your regular clinical work?

I am particularly interested in this course because scoliosis poses a significant challenge in our country, where it is a relatively new specialty. This translates to a lack of specialised care for children with scoliosis, who desperately need access to effective diagnosis, treatment, and management.
